Caius Marcius has been dropped a pound for his last time out fourth at Market Rasen. The winner that day Dream Berry stepped up in class next time out and finished a respectable third at Kempton at the weekend behind Brio Conti and Divine Spear. Aswell as being dropped a pound for that run Caius Marcius is also dropped in grade here running in a class four for the first time this year. His record at this grade currently reads 3112 and he also returns to ground listed as “good”. I’ll take that this ground will be either good or good to soft which sees a record of seven runs three wins two places and two unplaced. Of those unplaced the first was second time out at Cheltenham in a listed bumper and when still in contention unseating three out at Musselburgh, he wouldn’t have beaten the winner that day but would have been involved in the finish.
Nicky Richards has had his horses in good form recently returning six winners from twenty five (24%) over the last thirty days and two from five (40%) over the last seven. He doesn’t send many down to Wetherby from his small yard with 14 runners returning to the winners enclosure six times (43%) so when he does they are often well placed.
At 11/2 with three firms we’ll play one point on the win.
